Would you like the chance to sing alongside professional singers?

For more detailed information and to register please contact admin@midwalesopera.co.uk or fill in the enquiry form below.

We are looking for enthusiastic singers to join the company to sing the haunting Chorus of Refugees in Act 4. No acting experience required. Participants may choose to sing at a single performance or join us for multiple shows on tour. All performance dates are here.

There are two key rehearsal dates essential for anyone wanting to sing in the first performance. For the second performance and onwards there will be short rehearsals on the afternoon of each performance, where anyone can join for the first time even if they haven’t attended previous rehearsals or performances.

Rehearsal 1

Sunday 25 February, 2.00pm – 5.00pm, Hafren Theatre, Newtown.

On this day all singers will work on the music and the staging of the scene with MWO’s Music Director Jonathan Lyness and MWO’s Artistic Director Richard Studer, accompanied by pianist Aeron Preston. This will be a fun-packed afternoon in which the scene will be created for the first time on stage. Even if you are not going to sing at the first performance, we encourage you to come along and join this day if you can, open to all chorus participants.

Rehearsal 2

Friday 1 March, 12.00pm – 6.00pm, Hafren Theatre, Newtown.

This day will include a short full company rehearsal with all the cast and orchestra, followed by costuming, a lunch break and then MWO’s Dress Rehearsal of the opera at 3.00pm.

Performance Days

There will be no rehearsal on the day of the first performance, Saturday 2 March. For the second performance (7 March) and all subsequent performances, participants need to be available from 4.30pm on the day of the show for a short rehearsal and costume fittings.

Help get Mid Wales Opera back on the road

Only a few months ago we thought Mid Wales Opera was finished. Now, thanks to a funding lifeline from Powys County Council, we are within touching distance of having a sustainable plan to keep on producing live and local opera across Wales for at least three years.
