Huw Ynyr

Biography

Welsh tenor Huw Ynyr studied at Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. He is a popular concert artist and recently performed the tenor solo in Mozart’s Requiem in Rennes, with BBC Chorus of Wales and Orchestre National de Bretagne.

Recent engagements: Hogyn Un Nos Ola Leuad (Channel 4/S4C), Ferrando Così fan tutte (Diva Opera), Tinca Il tabarro and Miller El Gato con botas (MWO); Duca Bertrando and Chorus L’inganno felice (Wexford Festival Opera); First Priest The Prisoner, cover Father Grenville Dead Man Walking (Welsh National Opera); title role Albert Herring, Tamino The Magic Flute (RWCMD); Ernesto Don Pasquale, Jaquino Fidelio (Opra Cymru); Young Generation Artist and Ensemble Tenor L’elisir d’amore (Iford Arts).

Only a few months ago we thought Mid Wales Opera was finished. Now, thanks to a funding lifeline from Powys County Council, we are within touching distance of having a sustainable plan to keep on producing live and local opera across Wales for at least three years.
