Hailing from Gresford, outside Wrexham, baritone Samuel Snowden graduated from the Royal Northern College of Music in 2022. He has worked for opera companies including Opera North, Opera Holland Park, and Forbear! Theatre. Previous operatic roles include Masetto Don Giovanni (Cumbria Opera Group), Court Usher Rigoletto (Opera Holland Park), Figaro Le nozze di Figaro (RNCM Opera), Luiz The Gondoliers (Forbear! Theatre), Mr Gobineau in Menotti’s The Medium (RNCM Opera) and Sergeant Meryll Yeomen of the Guard (Forbear! Theatre). In 2020 Samuel was awarded the Sir John Manduell Prize, recognising exceptional work undertaken in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Only a few months ago we thought Mid Wales Opera was finished. Now, thanks to a funding lifeline from Powys County Council, we are within touching distance of having a sustainable plan to keep on producing live and local opera across Wales for at least three years.
