Elenid Owen was, for 24 years, a member of the Quatuor Ludwig giving over 1500 concerts and masterclasses worldwide and recording 20 CD’s for “Naxos”, “Naïve” and “Universal” labels. She was made “Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et Lettres“ by the French Ministry for Culture in 2012. Elenid has returned to Wales to settle with her family and now teaches violin performance and chamber music at the RWCMD and is the principal violinist of Ensemble Cymru. She also enjoys the liberty of performing with many different ensembles as a free-lance artist and performed with MWO in their previous SmallStages productions of Puss in Boots and Beatrice and Benedict.
Only a few months ago we thought Mid Wales Opera was finished. Now, thanks to a funding lifeline from Powys County Council, we are within touching distance of having a sustainable plan to keep on producing live and local opera across Wales for at least three years.
