Welsh baritone John Ieuan Jones studied at the Royal Northern College of Music, generously supported by the Draper’s Company and the Andrew Lloyd Webber Foundation. His 2023 season includes Guglielmo Così fan tutte with Opra Cymru, Maximilian Candide with Welsh National Opera and Mr Fogg and cover ‘title role’ Sweeney Todd with West Green House Opera. As a concert singer, Ieuan has sung at the Royal Albert Hall, Bridgewater Hall and shared the stage with Sir Bryn Terfel at the Millennium Centre. He recently performed at the North America Festival of Wales in Philadelphia and the Ontario Festival of Wales in Ottawa. When he’s not singing, he’s exploring the mountain roads on his motorbike.
Only a few months ago we thought Mid Wales Opera was finished. Now, thanks to a funding lifeline from Powys County Council, we are within touching distance of having a sustainable plan to keep on producing live and local opera across Wales for at least three years.
