Born in Mid Wales, Rebecca Afonwy-Jones began her career as a Scottish Opera Emerging Artist. Other companies with which she has worked include The Royal Opera, Welsh National Opera, English Touring Opera, Grange Park Opera, Longborough Festival Opera, Opera North, West Green House Opera, Opera Project and Festival Opera, New Zealand. She made her BBC Proms debut with BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra singing Vaughan Williams Serenade to Music, and concert engagements have further included performances with Britten Sinfonia, Norwegian Wind Ensemble, London Mozart Players, Philharmonia Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra. Broadcasts include Gareth Malone’s Messiah with BBC National Orchestra and Chorus of Wales. For Mid Wales Opera she has sung Dama Macbeth & Mother/Witch Hansel and Gretel.
