Ganed Rebecca Afonwy-Jones yng Nghanolbarth Cymru a dechreuodd ar ei gyrfa fel un o “Emerging Artists” Scottish Opera. Ymhlith y cwmnïau eraill y mae hi wedi gweithio gyda nhw mae English Touring Opera, Grange Park Opera, If Opera, Longborough Festival Opera, Opera North, Opera Cenedlaethol Cymru, West Green House Opera, Opera Project a Festival Opera, Seland Newydd. Ymddangosodd ar y BBC Proms am y tro cyntaf yn canu Serenade to Music Vaughan Williams, ac mae ei chyngherddau wedi cynnwys perfformiadau gyda Britten Sinfonia, Norwegian Wind Ensemble, London Mozart Players, Philharmonia Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra ac RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra. Mae ei recordiadau’n cynnwys Beginnings Hugh Wood ar gyfer Resonus Classics, a ddewiswyd fel CD yr Wythnos gan The Sunday Times. Ar gyfer Opera Canolbarth Cymru mae hi wedi canu Mam/Gwrach Hansel and Gretel.
Only a few months ago we thought Mid Wales Opera was finished. Now, thanks to a funding lifeline from Powys County Council, we are within touching distance of having a sustainable plan to keep on producing live and local opera across Wales for at least three years.
