Richard made his directing debut at The Bristol Old Vic. His repertoire spans from Monteverdi to Philip Glass at festivals and theatres across the UK. Richard is Artistic Director of MWO and an Associate Director of Longborough Festival Opera. He is co-founder and Artistic Director of Opera Project with whom he has had a longstanding collaboration with the Tobacco Factory Theatres, Bristol. Recent productions for Mid Wales Opera: Il tabarro, La bohème, Montsalvatge’s Puss in Boots, Hansel and Gretel, Beatrice & Benedict and Macbeth. Outside of opera Richard is a printmaker and wood engraver, and has recently exhibited at the Bankside Gallery in London with The Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers.
Only a few months ago we thought Mid Wales Opera was finished. Now, thanks to a funding lifeline from Powys County Council, we are within touching distance of having a sustainable plan to keep on producing live and local opera across Wales for at least three years.
