Nia was born in Cardiff and has a busy freelance career as an orchestral leader and chamber musician. She currently leads the British Sinfonietta, Swansea City Opera, Dartington Festival Orchestra, Cinematic Sinfonia and the Welsh Session Orchestra. She has appeared as guest-leader with the RTE Concert Orchestra, Borders Sinfonia, Welsh Chamber Orchestra, Skipton Camerata, Ensemble Cymru and the Bristol Ensemble. In 2009 she led the Lunar Chamber orchestra on Sting’s DVD “On a Winter’s Night”, recorded live at Durham Cathedral and in 2010 toured Europe and North America with Sting and the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra.
Only a few months ago we thought Mid Wales Opera was finished. Now, thanks to a funding lifeline from Powys County Council, we are within touching distance of having a sustainable plan to keep on producing live and local opera across Wales for at least three years.
